Miniature Schnauzer Dog Breed
The Miniature Schnauzer is a breed of small dog of the Schnauzer type that originated in Germany in the mid-to-late 19th century. These hardy little dogs are believed to have developed from crosses between the Standard Schnauzer and one or more smaller breeds such as the Poodle, Miniature Pinscher, or Affenpinscher. The Miniature Schnauzers have boundless energy and enthusiasm and make great playmates for children. Some schnauzers can be quite stubborn, so for best results, start obedience training early.
Miniature Schnauzers are remarkably social and people-oriented creatures. Originally bred as farm and hunting dogs, they will also help rid your yard of rodents. The Miniature Schnauzer is very friendly toward people and is generally great around children. Despite their small size, the Miniature Schnauzer is very brave and may get itself into trouble with larger dogs. For this reason, owners must take special care to socialize their Miniature Schnauzer with other dogs from a very young age.
His crisp, tangle-resistant, easily cared-for, non-shedding coat makes him the meticulous housekeeper's joy. Miniature Schnauzers do not make good kennel dogs and truly suffer when separated from their families. If you think that you can leave your Schnauzer in the back yard for half a day and he will play all by himself, do not hold to this dream. He will only play when he is with you. Schnauzers can be destructive and noisy when left alone for long hours. These dogs require lots of human attention.

Marlee (white schnauzer) was quick to train, but cannot train her big concerns over a cat. She has been whacked pretty good by some, but oh well--she goes back for more. I visted this site for training suggestions http://kpentersee.com/schnauzertraining

Schnauzer Tragedy
My wife's family has owned Mini-Schnauzer's for nearly 20 years now. We now are the proud owners of two of these wonderful loving dogs, Jack and Jill.
Recently Jack - our 3 year old, was out playing in the yard last Sunday (We have a dog safe, fenced in yard) when he was brutally attacked by someone leaving him with a shattered left femur, which required surgery.
He's recovery and loving attitude despite this trauma has been an astounding tribute to the breed.
If you would like to learn more please visit, www.help-jack.com for the full story and some pictures.
Thanks,

Miniature Schnauzers are WONDERFUL!!
We have 2 female salt and pepper Miniature Schnauzers. They will be 2 years old November 4. They are wonderful. Too cute and totally different personalities. The one we call our cuddler is actually the alfa female. She loves to be held and scrached. If you stop touching her she will paw at your hands until you begin again. The other is perfectly happy running after a ball rather than lay down and relax - she has to know what is going on every minute of every day. For a first time dog owner, I couldn't have chosen a better breed.
