Zygomatic Arch
Cheekbone. A heavy bridge of bone projecting forward along the face in front of the ear. It affords protection for the eye and provides anchorage for facial muscles and articulation for the mandible. 1 It is formed by two bones, the squamous temporal and zygomatic, which meet at an overlapping suture.
