The Australian Cattle Dog was created in the 19th century in Australia to herd sheep in rough terrain and extreme heat. Originally known as the Queensland Blue Heeler (Heeler is a dog that herds cattle by nipping at their heels), the Australian Cattle Dog is a loyal family companion and an excellent guardian of property. This is a very hardy breed with no known genetic disorders.
