When visiting a litter, a potential owner should ask to see documentation of the Bedlington Terrier litter's parents' clearance from CERF for hereditary eye diseases (PRA, retinal dysplasia, etc.) Copper Toxicosis which results in severe liver disease is thought to be in as much as half of the Bedlington Terrier breed. All responsible Bedlington Terrier breeders will have their dogs certified normal before breeding them. Be sure to ask the breeder to see the certificates of normal biopsies of both sire and dam.
