I adopted a lhasa apso three years ago from a couple who was getting a divorce

I adopted a lhasa apso three years ago from a couple who was getting a divorce. I have not had any problems with him and he adjusted well to our home. However within the past few months he has become very aggressive toward me and has actually bitten me several times. He is friendly with every one else in the house and even plays with my grandchildren. My husband thinks that the woman who gave me the dog was abusive toward him and that is why he is aggressive toward me. If that is so, I would think that that behavior would have shown up before this time since I have had him for over three years. I now keep him confined to the kitchen and family room. When I try to open the gate, he snarls and jumps at me, trying to bite. He has also ruined the carpet in the family room (which occured before I started to confine him) due to his urination. I am at my end. I was bitten again this past weekend and I just don't know what to do. Also, he is now eleven years old. Thank you for any help that you can give me.

Male Lhasa 4 years old

My Lhasa has been good with me, but wants to bite my husband. He has bitten my older son also. He wants to be the alpha male I guess, but I do not know what to do.

trouble with eye's?

I have a 11 year old Lhasa Apso, he is so special to us. For the last month we have been having troubles with his eye's. They been bleeding and sore. We have been to the vet at least once a week for the past month. She has been taking blood and trying to figure out what is wrong. We took him to another vet and he came up with the same test findings that our vet did.

Has any one had trouble with their Lhasa's eyes?

My Lhasa Apso

My Dog is a boy and he is everything that they say that Lhasa's are. He is Loyal, he is loving and playful, he is a good watch dog. He is very smart and knows a lot of tricks which is good for them and keeps them challenged. He loves to be chased. I don't really trust him with small children as he tends to get defensive if something happens suddenly and could be misinterpited by him as he needs to protect himself. He is always embarrassed when he gets shocked and growls. He has a very proud walk which I notice is part of his breed characteristics. He does need to be pressed on to mind at times because he really wants to be the pack leader but he does know that I am because I make sure he does what I tell him to, which is very important in this breed. He is very nice to people when we are around but if we leave him alone with someone he doesn't really care about them he just waits by the door until we come back for him. (sorry about the spelling) :) I would say the most important thing to have with this dog is to make sure they know that you are the leader and make them mind and you will love the dog as we do.

Lhasa Apso Character

The Lhasa Apso is a very loving dog. Lhasa Apsos like a lot of attention. They can be calm, yet playful. The Lhasa Apso also makes a good lap dog. Lhasa Apso grooming can be high- or low-maintenance. If you want to show your dog, you would want to its hair to grow long; however, long hair requires daily brushing. As a breeder, Rozin Kennel prefers their hair cut short. When a Lhasa Apso has short hair, maintenance is easier, and daily brushing isn't required.
