Some other fish diseases
There are a few other fish diseases that you need to be aware of:
Exophthalmia (commonly known as pop-eye). This appears to be of bacterial origin, sometimes following an injury, and particularly affects Angelfish. It als may be caused by gas bubbles behind the eye. The progressive salt treatment as applied for fungus or a reduction in temperature may help to reduce pressure, but no specific treatment is known.
There is another fish diseases called Ichthyosporidium which is caused by a fungus-like organisms which attacks the fish internally, starting with infected food and water taken into the stomach. from this organ the parasites penetrate into the blood and reproduce all over the body. For this reason, tThe disease cannot be treated bythe common external baths.
The Swim Bladder Disease causes the fish hop about in the water at an angle rather than swim and the fish may eventually become incapacitated by the condition. Itmay float helplessly on the surface, belly-up, or be unable to rise from the bottom. The condition si said to be caused by chilling, as during transport, or may occur without any obvious case. It is rarely fatal, unless extreme.
