The Border Terrier is a healthy breed. Although the following health disorders are not widespread in the breed, you should be aware of them and ask the breeder if any of these health problems are known in his line: Congenital ventricular septal defects (VSD), hip dysplasia (HD), progressive retinal atrophy (PRA). Always check the bite of your selected puppy to be sure that it is on its way to developing into correct strong scissor bite. The breeder should have clearances of the parents of the puppy certifying them as free from hip dysplasia and eye disease, from the OFA and CERF, respectively.
