Although the following health disorders are not widespread in the breed, you should be aware of them and ask the breeder if any of these health problems are known in his line: Mitral Valve Disease (MVD), hip dysplasia (HD), progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), cataracts, retinal dysplasia. The breeder should have clearances of the parents of the puppy certifying them as free from hip dysplasia and eye disease, from the OFA and CERF, respectively.
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a charming little dog with a silky coat and beautiful eyes. Its red and white coat color type is called Blenheim. Affectionate, sweet-tempered and fun-loving, the Cavalier makes a perfect family pet. Cavaliers are usually good with children but will not tolerate children who like to play roughhouse.
