There is varying opinion as to the actual origin of the Clumber Spaniel. Two most popular theories maintain that it was bred in the 17th century England to hunt on the thick undergrowth where other spaniels would not go. As companion dogs Clumber spaniels are affectionate, gentle and wonderful with children.
