Barak, Bosnian Coarse-Haired Hound, Illyrian Hound
In 1965, the Barak was registered with the F.C.I. as of Illyrian Hound. In the present standard, the name of the breed is changed to "Bosnian Coarse-Haired Hound - Barak". This is a robust dog with a long and shaggy coat. The expression serious, but playful. This breed is known for its lively temperament and courage.
The dog's ingenuity and adaptability in the hunt can be attributed to its diverse background. Not purely a scenthound, the Bosnian may indeed have a touch of sighthound. Boar, fox and har are among his quarry. This is a good-natured companion who enjoys home life as well work in the rugged terrain.
Size 18-22 inches at shoulders.
Coat The coat is a classic one, complete with beard and moustache.
Color The basic color is reddish-yellow or gray with white markings on the lower parts.
