DOGS For dogs the drug is used as an aid in treating hot spots ( moist dermatitis) and as first aid for scrapes and abrasions. Sulfodene Medication for Dogs is one of the oldest canine drugs approved by FDA (1943).

Toxicity As ingredient, this chemical is used in general performance sealants (PVAC, butyl, vinyl, etc.), in pesticides, in production (Auto Radiator Fluids, Lubricants and Additives Extreme Pressure Agents, Corrosion Inhibitors, High Water-Based Fluid, Secondary Antioxidants/Stabilizers, Rubber Chemicals Production, Thiazole Derivatives, Vulcanization agents). The substance is irritating to the eyes. Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization. In laboratory animals, 2-Mercaptobenzothiazoleadr causes cancer of adrenal gland, hematopoietic system, pituitary gland, and preputial gland.
