Betamethasone Sodium Phosphate
Betamethasone sodium phosphate is a corticosteroid agent (synthetic glucocorticoid) given orally, parenterally, by local injection, by inhalation, or applied topically in the management of various disorders. Combined with betamethasone dipropionate it is used for the treatment of inflammation due to cortisteroid-responsive inflammatory skin diseases. 1
The drug suppresses the formation, release, and activity of elements involved in inflammation, such as prostaglandins, kinins, and histamine.
Betamethasone sodium phosphate is approved for use in dogs and horses. In dogs it is used as an aid in the control of pruritus associated with dermatoses. It is indicated for use in horses as an aid in the control of inflammation associated with various inflammatory joint diseases. 2
