Dihydrostreptomycin
Dihydrostreptomycin is an antibiotic compound derived from Streptomyces niveus gram-positive bacteria. The drug has been approved by the FDA for use in cattle, horse, dog, and swine.
Intramuscular injection of dihydrostreptomycin sulfate is indicated for the treatment of leptospirosis in dogs and horses due to Leptospira canicola, L. Icterohemorrhagiae, and L. pomona. 1,2
