Enalapril Maleate
Enalapril maleate is an antihypertensive drug used to treat high blood pressure. Enalapril, after hydrolysis to enalaprilat, inhibits angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) in human subjects and animals. The beneficial effects of enalapril in hypertension and heart failure appear to result primarily from suppression of the renin -angiotensin-aldosterone system. 1
Enalapril maleate is approved for the treatment of mild, moderate, and severe (modified New York Heart Association Class II, III, IV) heart failure in dogs. 2
