Glycopyrrolate

Glycopyrrolate is an anticholinergic agent used to reduce gastric acid secretion and hypermotility. 2 It can be used for treating ulcers in the stomach and small intestine, in combination with other medications. In anesthesia, glycopyrrolate injection serves as a preoperative antimuscarinic operation that reduces salivary, tracheobronchial, and pharyngeal secretions. 3

Glycopyrrolate is administered via oral, intravenous, intramuscular, or subcutaneous route. In dogs and cats, glycopyrrolate is indicated as a preanesthetic agent.

If animal is receiving glycopyrrolate tablets, allow animal free acess to water and encourage drinking if dry mouth is a problem. 1
