Halothane
Halothane is an inhalant general anesthetic. Although it has been replaced by newer agents, it is still used in veterinary practice due to its relative safety, potency, and comparatively low cost. 1
Halothane reduces the blood pressure and frequently decreases the pulse rate and depresses respiration. It induces muscle relaxation and reduces pains sensitivity by altering tissue excitability. 2
