Maropitant
Maropitant (CERENIA Tablets) is an antiemetic veterinary drug approved for the prevention of acute vomiting and the prevention of vomiting due to motion sickness in dogs only. Maropitant is a neurokinin (NK1) receptor antagonist that blocks the pharmacological action of substance P in the central nervous system (CNS). 1,5
CERENIA Tablets are recommended for use in dogs 16 weeks and older. Maropitant is well tolerated in dogs. Pre-travel vomiting and excess salivation are the two most common side effects seen after administration of the tablets at a higher dosage required for prevention of motion sickness. 1
