Meloxicam
Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug chemically related to oxicam.
Meloxicam is available as both injectable and oral product.
Meloxicam (Metacam®. Oral Suspension) is used in dogs for the control of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis. 2
In cats, meloxicam (Metacam® intravenous and subcutaneous solution) is indicated for the control of postoperative pain and inflammation associated with orthopedic surgery, ovariohysterectomy, and castration when administered prior to surgery. 2
In dogs, meloxicam (Metacam® intravenous and subcutaneous solution) is used for the control of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis. 2 2
Meloxicam may cause adverse gastrointestinal effects (vomiting, soft stools,diarrhea, and loss of appetite). Single dose in cats appear relatively safe. repeated dose of meloxicam in cats has been associated with kidney failure. 1
