Miconazole Nitrate

Miconazole nitrate is an antifungal agent of imidazole used to treat ringworm in humans and animals.

Miconazole prevents fungal organisms from producing vital substances required for growth and function. This medication is effective only for infections caused by fungal organisms. It will not work for bacteria or viral infections.

Miconazole Nitrate (Conofite® Cream 2%, Conofite® Spray 1%, Conofite® Lotion 1%, Conofite® Spray 1%, Conofite® Lotion 1%, Miconosol, Priconazole™ Lotion 1% and Spray 1%) is approved by FDA for topical treatment of infections in dogs and caused by Microsporum canis, Microsporum gypseum, and Trichophyton mentagrophytes.

The FDA has considered all imidazoles "potentially carcinogenic." 4
