Tripelennamine Hydrochloride

Tripelennamine Hydrochloride belongs to the class of substances called antihistamines (most are complex, synthetic amines) that have an action such that it allays the effects of excess histamine produced by the body tissues. Antihistamines are used to relieve the symptoms of allergies, motion sickness, and stomach ulcers. They help to counteract some allergic manifestations of snakebites or horse serum. Even normal use of antihistamines can cause nausea, vomiting, sleepiness, fatigue, constipation, dryness of the mouth and upper respiratory tract and low blood pressure.

Primary Uses
For dogs and cats tripelennamine hydrochloride is used in treating conditions in which antihistaminic therapy may be expected to lead to alleviation of some signs of disease. Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
