Originated from Britain; comes in two types: English and American. The Eenglish variety is a sturdy, strong and tireless draft type pony. The American type is a more slender. There are also other varieties: miniature Shetland pony and show type Shetland pony.

Originated from Britain; descended form the Celtic pony. It was developed by adding Andalusian and Clydesdale blood, and recently Arabian. The Connemara is a sturdy, all-purpose pony used for riding. It stands 13-14.2 hands and comes in gray, bay, black, dun and brown colors.
