The Belgian Draft (or Brabant) horse was formerly known as Flanders horse. It is the result of several centuries of selective breeding. It is a powerful horse, with a short back and short legs and a great amount of feathering. It is highly praised for its good temperament, endurance and willingness to work. The Brabant influenced all other European heavy horses and is very popular in the United States. The Belgian Draft horse's main colors are roan (chestnut, bay, or sorrel color thickly sprinkled with white or gray) and chestnut. Today, The Belgian Draft horse is used for draft work.
