The Friesian horse is one of Europe's oldest breeds which takes its name from Friesland, in northern Holland. As a war and aall-round farm horse it was highly valued for its endurance, strength and docility. The breed was improved by infusions of Andalusian blood to produce a lighter version of the breed to emphasize its great aptitude at trotting at speed. Today the Friesian horse is very popular as a work horse and a harness horse. The Friesian horse comes in black color only. It is 14.3 to 15.3 hands high and weighs about 1,300+ pounds.
