The Thoroughbred originated in the 17th century in England when native race horse were crossed with stallions brought from the Middle East. There are four principal Thoroughbred lines: Herod, Eclipse, Matchem and Highflyer. The Thoroughbred is a highly versatile breed known for speed, courage and stamina. It excels in all branches of equestrian sport. The Thoroughbred comes in all solid colors and is used for riding (especially racing).
