Fluid-filled interior within the cell membrane. Even in such simple organisms as bacteria, the cytoplasm is a complex substance containing the nuclear body, which is rich in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), ribosomes with ribonucleic acid (RNA), and a fluid portion which contains various dissolved nutrients. The nuclear body is involved in reproduction, while ribosomes are involved in protein synthesis [2].
In more complex organisms, the cytoplasm is packed full of organelles and is highly structured by a network of fine tubes and fibers that are spread throughout the cell. These supporting tubes (microtubules) and fibers (microfilaments) are known collectively as cytoskeleton [1].
