Aflatoxins

A group of carcinogenic and toxic factors produced by Aspergillus flavus food molds. The mycotixins cause liver necrosis and liver cancer in laboraory animals and are believed to be responsible for a high incidence of liver cancer among people in tropical regions of Africa and Asia who may consume moldy grains, peanuts, or other contaminated foods.
