Carbolic acid
Phenol; obtained from coal tar; used as a general disinfectant, either in solution or mixed with slaked lime for toilets, staels, cesspools, floors, drains; for the manufacture of colorless or light-colored artificial resins, many medical and industrial organic compounds and dyes; pharmaceutic acid (preservative). IN veterinary practice phenol and its derivatives is used as antiseptic caustic; topical anesthetic in pruritic skin condition; internally and externally as antiseptic.
