Hemostasis
This is a complex process in which platelets, plasms and coagulation factors interact to control bleeding. When tissue injury occurs, local narrowing of the blood vessels and platelet clumping (aggregattion) at the injury sit initially help to prevent bleeding. A stable clot is formed when fibrinogen is converted to fibrin, which creates a fibrin clot that lasts for 2 to 3 days.
