Osteosclerosis
A group of conditions characterized by an abnormal hardening or increased density of bone tissue. Osteosclerosis is most often seen in conjunction with severe bone marrow fibrosis, systemic mastocytosis, and multiple myeloma, hairy cell leukemia and plasma cell neoplasia. It also may occur without primary bone marrow disease in the congenital condition called osteopetrosis. The cause of isolated osteosclerosis in adults is unknown; some reported cases suggested intravenous drug abuse.
