Trimethoprim

A pyrimidine inhibitor of dihydrofolate reductase, it is an antibacterial related to Pyrimethamine. The interference with folic acid metabolism may cause a depression of hematopoiesis. It's action is enhanced by sulfonamides. It is sometimes used alone as an antimalarial.
