California Spangled Cat
 The California Spangled cat, which looks exactly like a miniature leopard, is slender, elegant, and graceful, but also highly muscled, athletic and well proportioned. At first glance, it looks like a wild creature, a hunter, and gives the impression of being bigger than it actually is. It is given to stalking its toys but at the same time it makes a wonderful house pet. It is renowned for its sociable, affectionate nature.
This breed was created as a result of careful calculations. The American breeder and scientist Paul Casey used eight breeds to create a miniature domestic replica of leopard, including non-pedigreed cats from Asia and Cairo. Rosetted and and ringed coats mimic that of the Ocelot, margay, and jaguar. "Spangled" means spotted. The coat has spotting over the back and sides and stripings between the ears and down the neck to the shoulders. The breed is recognized by TICA but still remains rare. However, these cats do not have wild blood in them at all. They are the result of breeders trying to develop coat patterns that resemble the domestic cat's wild cousins. You can put in this category the Ocicat, derived from breedings of the Siamese and Abyssinian, and named for Ocelot, which it resembles.
The first impression is of an unmistakable spotted cat with a long, strong, tubular body, and hunter-like quality of its gait.
The breed color include black, charcoal, brown, bronze, red, blue, gold, or silver in spotted tabby and snow leopard.
