The name aptly describes this docile cat's most renowned charcteristic—its propensity to lie limp and relaxed in its owner's arms, just like a rag doll. The semi-long-haired breed was developed in California in the 1960s, the progeny of Josephine, a white Persian Queen, and her consort, Daddy Warbucks.
The Ragdoll rivals the Maine Coon in size, length, and strength. It is a tall cat with a long, muscular body, with the hind legs longer than the front. It does not attain its full size until it is 4 years old. Females are noticeably smaller than males. color maturity is not achieved until 2 years old.
The coat is plush, silky, medium-long to long, with longer preferred.
Ragdoll Personality The Ragdoll is the essence of sweetness and gentleness. Cats of this breed seem to have perfect self_control, never showing the slightest sign of aggression or impatience.
Ragdoll Colors There are 3 basic pattern types. colorpoint, Mitted and Bi-color, and 4 colors: Seal, Blue, Chocolate, and Lilac. The 3 pattern types have been defined as follows:
- Colorpoint: dark points on mask, ears, tail, legs, feet;
- Mitted: dark points on mask, ears, tail, legs; feet are white;
- Bi-color: dark points on mask, ears, tail; legs and feet are white.

Ragdoll cats are a very docile and lovable breed that love to cuddle in your lap or arms much like the Raggedy Ann Ragdolls. They are a relatively large breed of cat, but are also among the most gentle and affectionate. The Ragdoll has medium length fur that comes in a variety of colors and patterns. with small children or who enjoy a pet that is not overly active. They are very intelligent and trainable breed and will take all the affection that their owner can pour at them.
