The Chinchilla is a medium-size rodent of South American origin that weighs up to 1.8 pounds and is about 15 inches long. Chinchillas have large eyes, long ears, and a long bushy tail. Their silky, dense fur is usually of blue to brown gray color. In captivity, Chinchillas can live up to 20 years or more. They bond with their humans, especially if raised as babies and are playful and friendly with everybody, including children.
