African Butterfly Cichlid (Anomalochromis thomasi) belongs to the family Cichlidae (cichlids).
This species is commonly found in freshwater habitats in Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Liberia.
Males are 4 inches long; females are much smaller.
The African Butterfly Cichlid is rather territorial but also tolerant of other species. This species accepts a wide range of foods, both vegetable and live food components are recommended. The aquarium should be well planted, with hiding places and flat-topped or smoothly rounded pebbles. Water chemistry is not critical, but soft, slightly acid conditions are best for breeding.
