Rose Mellow (Lavatera trimestris) is a hardy, easily grown, tall (47 in) annual, producing shallow funnel-shaped flowers in summer, in shades of white and pink, with maroon centres and maroon veining on the petals. The plant has maple-like irregularly round-toothed leaves. Numerous cultivars have been developed for garden use. These fabulous flowers bloom all summer and are happy in containers or along the borders. Grow them from seeds and protect young seedlings from slugs. Plant seedlings two feet apart, because the plants grow like rounded shrubs.
